Amazon Security is looking for a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated Purple Team Manager to lead and grow an offensive and defensive security engineering team in its PeopleTech Security team. You and your team will be responsible for driving Red, Blue, and Purple operations to discover & detect known and unknown threats to employee data.

As a security leader, you will innovate and solve security challenges at a massive scale and participate in Amazon PeopleTech Security strategy. As a people leader you will hire, build and grow a team of security engineers, and foster a strong team culture.

Responsibilities:
  • Team management, growth, and organization
  • Professional development of team members
  • Deliver security metrics and projections to our customers
  • Drive security initiatives and security tool development
  • Drive continuous process improvement within the team
  • Build Offensive capabilities that support Defensive outcomes (Red Team operations, Purple Team operations, Threat Hunting, Detection Engineering, and Threat Intelligence)
  • Advise and consult with internal customers on risk management
  • Provide expert advice to internal customers on developing secure architectures
  • Participate in security escalations support
  • Contribute to program documents, intelligence reports, security briefings, roadmaps, and strategic planning documents.

  • Bachelor's Degree or MS in Computer Science or related field
  • Familiarity with AWS services and technologies
  • Experience with a wide range of technologies and the ability to pick up new technologies quickly
  • Experience with the application of threat modeling or other risk identification techniques
  • Experience in risk identification, secure software design, secure architectures, security testing, or vulnerability detection or remediation
  • Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills
  • Results oriented, high energy, self-motivated
  • Familiarity with detection engineering tools and concepts a plus (YARA, SIGMA, Flink)
  • Strong scripting skills in one or more of the common languages (Python, Golang, Rust, etc.)
  • DevOps automation and Infrastructure-as-Code background a plus (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc)
  • Offensive research and exploit development background a plus
